Flinching when Sixshot orders him to let Perceptor do his work, it’s however mostly the surprise how accurately Optimus is able to figure out what happened that makes Misfire hesitate for another moment before he finally gives in and nods slowly, giving Perceptor an uneasy, wary look before he drops his gaze and waits for the treatment to start. While the occurrence sounds a bit ridiculous, the way in which Misfire reacts proves it’s no fairy tale. “Just who is this other Ratchet?,” he asks Prime while moving out of the way for Perceptor, “You seem to know him.”
While Misfire and Sixshot seem to have accepted Optimus’s story, Perceptor is somewhat less convinced.
“How is that even possible? I cannot even begin to detail all the things that could go wrong with such a procedure if it were done purposefully. Yet, you are suggesting this was a random occurrence! Ignoring the astronomically small possibility that any communication device actually was capable of swapping sparks, graft versus host would be the least of your worries!
A mech’s or femme’s body is attuned to their spark, Optimus. It could not support another without the original being in place. Not to mention how vastly different mechs and femmes are—if a mech and femme were to somehow successfully swap sparks, and no other ill effects manifested, you would still be left with the problem that a femme’s frame is not designed for a mech’s spark, and vice versa.”
Perceptor continues muttering to himself as he starts pacing agitatedly about hte medical bay.
Optimus allows Perceptor to talk himself into a corner, watching him wander around the room, verbally theorizing and calculating things Optimus doubts he could ever comprehend.
Meeting Sixshot’s gaze, he answers, “This darker version of Ratchet has been in this base before. He is completely unstable and addicted to surgery—he will stop at nothing to turn all Cybertronians into his “patients” and perform horrific surgeries on them.”
Looking to Misfire, Optimus softens his features and holds out a hand for him to hold. “I will not force you to undergo treatment, Misfire, you have been through so much already. However, I do believe it would help if you were able to communicate.”
Standing still a moment, Optimus has an idea.
“Sixshot, would it be possible for Perceptor to instruct you on how to fix Misfire’s injuries? Perhaps you would be more comfortable with that, Misfire?”
Alright, now he can die recharge happily. Close to suffering a spark attack as his goodnight wish is not only...
“…Hnn? Oh….,” truth be told, he had already started to doze, so the words catch him off-guard. Settling in more...
